Issues & Alerts

The Village of Downers Grove is considering new regulations that will significantly affect how we manage redevelopment in our neighborhoods. The next step in this process is consideration by the Plan Commission at its meeting on February 27, 2006. Please refer to the Information Packet for this meeting.

The Coalition supports recommendations in the recent Planning and Community Development Staff Report [link to 9-18.pdf] as good first steps. But we all must recognize that many more changes will be required in order to deal with the teardowns and successfully manage residential redevelopment. Several other steps are urged in Ken Lerner's statement to the Plan Commission.

Following are links to two important documents. These documents, although dated from 1991, contain recommendations and perspectives that are particularly insightful for the issues we face today.
