Getting
Involved
The Downers Grove Coalition for Managed
Redevelopment was initiated by the Pierce Downer Heritage Alliance and
the Downers Grove Watch Association to address redevelopment issues and
provide information to Village residents and our government
officials. Goals and objectives as well as operational
guidelines for the Coalition were approved in a Framework Document.
On
June 18th, the Coalition had held a Public Forum at which Downers Grove
Mayor Brian Krajewski spoke about development of the Village
staff proposals for changes in the zoning code. This forum also
featured speakers from Hinsdale and Oak Park, two communities that have
acted to control negative impacts of redevelopment. On October 26 we
held another successful public forum featuring speakers from Downers
Grove and Wheaton, to continue the dialog.
There
are many ways you can get involved to better management of residential
redevelopment in Downers Grove. While financial support is always
helpful, your personal involvement with the many issues facing our community is
also important. We welcome you to attend our meetings and work on
those projects that are of the greatest interest to you.

fee your voice can be heard, and we can help keep
you informed about ways to preserve the character of our community.
Activities of the Coalition are managed by the Coalition Steering
Committee. Current members of this Steering Committee are:
Ken Lerner, Chairman, Bill Wrobel, Treasurer, Andy Clark, Gordon Goodman, Pete Hultman and Charley Smart
Summaries of actions by the Steering Committee are written up after each meeting.
